Going 0 'fer

Well, it's been a while- I've been very busy trying to balance school and my own trading education (and not doing a very good job to be hones). Now that summer's here, I'm really going to focus on finding out what I've been doing wrong and how to improve my results for the rest of the year. My year trading anniversary is coming up in September, and right now I feel like the Avs- the market has handed me my ass and told me to try again next year after I've grown up a little. I mean, seriously, the Avs looked like a minor league team next to the Red Wings last night- that was just embarrasing... Anyway, I know that I can do much better, and I fully expect to make this a major source of income in the coming years, so it's time to buckle down and focus for the off season so I can come out kicking ass and taking names.

Germany??

Recently, there was a possibility of the family moving to Germany. Personally, I think that would have been great since I spent several years there as a kid. Unfortunately, it didn't happen- I guess I got my hopes up and was really looking forward to a new start for all of us. Oh well- we'll just have to stick to the original plan and look forward to Summer 2010. I'd better start making some cash in the markets- it's been a rough few months (particularly this past week). The more I learn, the less I know- so true!

Fun with Hulu

Just saw a spot on Hulu- free movies & they let you edit and post to your own blog, so... Here's a scene from on of my favorites- enjoy!!

Back to School

Well, it's been a while... Everyone's back to school, including me. It's been good to get back into a regular routine again, and I still get some alone time at home to work/ study the market. I went back to 7th Grade two days ago and shadowed Joshua for the day. We're really getting serious about getting him straightened out- he's very smart and capable of great things, he just needs some encouragement, support, and love, just like the rest of us! I'm excited about 2008 and what's in store for our family- I've got some concrete goals to achieve this year, and there's no time like the present to start working towards those. It'll be great to look back once I've achieved them and say "I did it! I set a goal, sacrificed and worked hard to reach it, and realized I can do anything I set my mind to." Hope you have a great 2008 as well!

Quitting Time

With the holiday season upon us, I've decided to take a break from pretty much everything until New Years and enjoy some down time with the family. I finished up the semester last Friday, and don't start up again until mid-January. I'm hoping to come back rejuvenated and with some ideas to keep improving my classes to make it more enjoyable for my students to learn and for me to teach. After about 4 months of trading with actual $, I've discovered I've got a whole lot left to learn- fortunately, I started off really small so I haven't lost too much yet. It's been very humbling experience for me- every time I think I had things sorta' figured out (I can think of 3 instances specifically), the market took me down and showed me who's boss! I'm confident that through discpline, intense study and good ol' fashioned hard work, I will be successful in 2008.

Turkey Day

Another great Thanksgiving... I'm glad we decided to stay home and share with the family instead of traveling. I was supposed to be in Denver Wednesday, but due to snow I didn't make it, so I got an extra day off. Here's some more fun stuff from the kids (I don't think they know I can see it, but I'm sure they'll find out soon enough)!

Don't you love kids...

A little dark, but... it'll still be great to show their girlfriends when they're 16!
